Rajasthan
is a land where the vagaries of nature have settled to co-exit
with the good cheer of its people. The architectural grandeur
of royalty and the tales of valour and chivalry are the essence
of its very spirit .The mountainous Aravalis and Vindhyas on the one hand and the dearest landscape
on the other form a contrast which blends perfectly with the
history of Rajasthan. Rajasthan is a land of living colour.
Rajasthan is a destination that enchants the visitors with every
little discovery that is made, because the more one discovers,
the more is the urge to stay on or come back. For Rajasthan
Thar is peopled by a proud race where the dull landscape bursts
into brilliant Kodachrome hues: Multi- coloured clothes, jewellery
that begins from the toes and anklets and mounts upwards from
waist to hands to face and forehead. The men sport turbans and
luxuriant moustaches that they carry with aplomb, and rings
for their ears. The important cities include the capital Jaipur,
Jaisalmer & Jodhpur. In this land of colours and pageantry,
come for your next incentive. The women are attired in swaying
skirts and lights as breeze mantles and armfuls of bangles,
and for the people of different communities, and from different
parts of the desert region, wear their clothes, jewellery and
turbans differently.
For generation, over centuries, fairs were events of social
interaction, a place to meet, to nurse and rebuild old ties,
to forge new relations, to buy and to sell and because they
were a generous people, they came in their festive best to celebrate
the bounties of god and nature. A drive anywhere in Rajasthan
will be punctuated by a fort on a distant ridge or a pavillion
next to a seasonal pool.
